Aiken Choral Society

The Aiken Choral Society, ACS, is a semi-professional community choral group and a member organization of Chorus America that is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission.

The Aiken Choral Society performs two major concert series each year, in the winter around Christmastime, and in late May or early June. The concerts are held in an area church or the Aiken County Historical Museum at Banksia. The focus for Winter concerts is seasonal, holiday music. Spring concerts feature important classical and contemporary music.

ACS also sings at various fund raising and benefit events, including the Aiken Tour of Homes during December.

As Aiken's oldest performing arts organization, ACS performs a wide range of music, from Contemporary to Early Music, and has multiple professional, instrumental and vocal resources at its disposal. The Society has performed, by invitation, as part of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival for more than ten years and in 1992, was selected, by audition to perform with the acclaimed Prague Symphony Orchestra in Prague and Brno, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). We gave Our Lady of the Snows Cathedral in Prague, built in 1347, its first sacred music concert after more than 50 years of Communist domination.
